Firebird Forensics Group, Inc. is a nonprofit organization. We are a dynamic team of participants who use Investigative Genetic Genealogy (IGG) to identify suspects in violent crimes, solve unidentified human remains cases and bring compassionate closure to victims. We have collectively solved over 50 forensic cases including many complex cases that other groups would not take on, falling outside their basic parameters.

We are seeking:

Primarily credentialed and or accredited genealogists (or those working toward a credential) or have experience working on unknown parentage and forensic cases.

We would like to add additional people who also have experience with:

  • genealogical records of Latin America, specifically those from Mexico and Guatemala

  • African American history and genealogy

  • Korean or Asian genealogical traditions

Candidates from other backgrounds, especially law or science related, with an interest in working on forensic cases are also encouraged to apply.

For example, since 2015, our group has included both the employed and the retired: county records' clerks, a state prosecutor, a physician, a detective, a patent attorney and a forensic analyst for law enforcement.

We do both paid and pro bono work. For the paid work, we typically cap our fees for law enforcement and work on a case until it is solved.
